Nashville Film Festival Announces Open Call for Entries for Screenwriting Competition with Over $60,000 in Cash and Prizes. Special Competition for Tennessee Screenwriters and Young Screenwriters

Nashville, TN - The Nashville Film Festival (NaFF) has announced the Call for Entries for the Nashville Film Festival Screenwriting Competition with over 60,000 in cash and prizes.  The competition will close January 14, 2015. The Official Award Ceremony takes place at the 46^th Annual Nashville Film Festival, April 16 – 25^th.

The NaFF Screenwriting Competition stands out in the industry because it names winners and runners-up in short script categories, as well as feature-length categories.  It also awards teleplays in both drama and comedy categories.  In all, NaFF awards in 20 categories, including a special category for Tennessee and young screenwriters.  NaFF also grants semifinalists and finalists silver laminates to the festival.  In all, some 216 up-and-coming screenwriters and their guests will have access to the events at NaFF 2015. NaFF’s intentions for these screenwriters reaches beyond the festival.

“Our goal,” said Ted Crockett, Executive Director, “is to find talented writers of exciting scripts and put those scripts in front of our friends in the film industry. NaFF has been around for 46 years, and we’ve developed great relationships with studios and industry insiders who can help these writers get their scripts made into the films we all see. We’re all about the deal.”

Noteworthy winning scripts will be read by celebrated industry executives and studios.  In 2014, top scripts were read by Tom Pollock’s Montecito Pictures, Blossom Films, Nicole Kidman’s Academy-Award nominated production company, noted casting director Laray Mayfield, famed limit-breaking director/producer Harmony Korine, and Rich Peluso, Senior Vice President of AFFIRM Films, the faith/family and inspirational label of Sony Picture Entertainment.

“This is a major competition that will draw entries from all over the world,” said Crockett. In its first year, the screenwriting competition received 1,531 scripts. Deadlines for entry are: Early Bird: 8/15 ($25 fee); Regular 9/23 ($35 fee); Late 11/25 ($45 fee); Extended 1/14 ($55 fee).
