April 2014 Spec Market Roundup

As many of you are aware (or better be) of the Scroggins Report (link) that tracks spec script sales every year. The latest report is not good news for screenwriters - especially you the unrepped, newbe.

From the report:

"There's no getting around the fact that the spec market is in a bit of a slump, though, and we thought it might be useful to quantify that for you: The last three months have seen the lowest total number of spec sales -- 20 -- since the dismal 2010 spec market turned around at the beginning of 2011"

Specs sold for 2014 thus far is a whopping 6, six, that's 1,2,3,4,5,6... Last year this time there were14, and two years ago 12.

Remember this does not include options and assignments; additionally, it does not encompass the smaller independent companies. But regardless, not good news!
