Proving yet again that there are only a handful of screenwriters writing most of the material in Hollywood. And certainly only a few of them can get deals like the one David Koepp and John Kamps received.
The Walt Disney Co. has paid $2.5 million for David Koepp and John Kamps' original script THE SUPERCONDUCTING SUPERCOLLIDER OF SPARKLE CREEK, WISCONSON. Barry Sonnenfeld and Gavin Polone will reportedly produce the project. The story is about a small town Wisconsin sheriff who learns that a theoretical physicist's team has built a particle accelerator beneath her unsuspecting town.
Under terms of the deal, Koepp will receive an additional $750,000 plus what sources said is a sizable back end that includes a $1.25 million deferment. This deal comes less than a year after Koepp's thriller spec THE PANIC ROOM sold during a major bidding war to Columbia Pictures for $2 million plus another $1 million in producing fees and $1 million deferred.
Kamps' credits include THE BORROWERS and every young boy's favorite, THE MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS MOVIE.
